Not only did established wine regions like California and Oregon secure top accolades, but two emerging states made history with their first-ever Gold medals.
Record-Breaking Performance:
- Across the Nation: The US continues its impressive run at DWWA, grabbing a significant number of medals. This year’s haul includes a coveted “Best in Show” for Clos du Val, Yettalil, Stags Leap District, California 2021.
- Oregon Retains Momentum: Building on its 2023 Best in Show win, Oregon secures a Platinum medal for Audeant Wines’ Luminous Hills Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley. Additionally, the state significantly boosts its Gold medal count, reflecting the quality of its renowned Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
- California Reigns Supreme: California remains the top US performer, taking home another Best in Show and a Platinum medal for Trefethen Family Vineyards, Dragon’s Tooth, Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley 2021. The state also saw a rise in Gold medals, demonstrating its consistent excellence.
New States Make History:
- Virginia’s First Gold: Marking a significant milestone, Virginia receives its first-ever Gold medal for Chestnut Oak Vineyard, Petit Verdot, Monticello 2019. The state also collected additional medals, showcasing its growing winemaking prowess.
- Pennsylvania’s Golden Debut: Pennsylvania enters the Gold medal club with Mazza, The Perfect Rosé 2022, crafted from Chambourcin grapes. This win builds on Pennsylvania’s initial recognition achieved in 2023.

The USA’s impressive showing includes a total of 235 medals, with additional states like Texas, New York, and Colorado contributing to the national success.
