Cheval Collection recently announced the appointment of Tom Gibson as General Manager to supervise its array of properties in Edinburgh. The company is actively broadening its global footprint, notably with the introduction of a new venue in Dubai, complementing its expanding presence in Scotland.

Gibson transitions to Cheval from Virgin Hotels, where he managed the Glasgow location. His broad experience in the luxury hospitality sector includes roles such as General Manager at The Glasshouse in Edinburgh, part of the Autograph Collection, and Director of Operations at the Dalmahoy, Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

John Philipson, COO, Cheval Collection, said: “We are privileged to have a leading position in Edinburgh and this is due in no small part to the strength of our team. Adding someone of Tom’s calibre can only serve to strengthen our position and it is a pleasure to welcome him to Cheval Collection.”

Gibson added: “I am looking forward to working with the team at Cheval Collection at these three stunning properties. Edinburgh continues to go from strength to strength as a key destination for both leisure and business travellers and with it the appeal of luxury serviced apartments as a flexible home from home.”

In Edinburgh, Cheval Collection operates three sites: Cheval The Edinburgh Grand at St Andrew Square, Cheval Old Town Chambers along the Royal Mile, and Cheval Abbey Strand Apartments, ideally situated near the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Altogether, these locations comprise 133 luxury apartments in the city.

Cheval Collection stands out in Edinburgh as the sole member of the Global Hotel Alliance and is the pioneering serviced apartment operator in Europe to join the program.

The company is actively engaging in strategic growth through management agreements and is currently negotiating with several investors and developers across the UK and Europe. In the coming year, Cheval plans to introduce its fourth Scottish property, Cheval Maison – West Regent in Glasgow.

Currently, Cheval Collection manages nine sites in London, three in Edinburgh, and one in Dubai. The upcoming Cheval Maison – Expo City Dubai is slated for opening in 2025, while Cheval Ladun Living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is expected to complete in 2027.
