The 50 best shows on Netflix in June 2024
Polly Walker and Nicola Coughla in Bridgerton season 3.

Netflix may have popularized the binge model, but the streamer has also come to realize the benefit of spreading out a season. Bridgerton season 3 premiered just about month ago, and now the second part of the season has arrived to give fans a fresh batch of episodes before the inevitable two-year hiatus between seasons. Getting shows on a consistent schedule is really something that Netflix should work on for the future. But for now, that's just the way it is.

Beyond Bridgerton, there wasn't much of note this week. That's why we're turning our attention to an arrival from earlier this month, Scavenger's Edge. This series is a very bold sci-fi/horror animated show that was a standout on Max. And now, Netflix is its only hope of getting a second season if it can find a larger audience here.

Best new movies coming to theaters in 2024
The new emotions in Inside Out 2.

You know things have been bad this summer when Bad Boys: Ride or Die's $56 million opening is being praised for saving the box office. That's a bit premature, but all credit to Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, and the rest of the cast and crew. Ride or Die beat its miniscule $40 million projections and it has performed very well in the week since its release. Heading into the weekend, Bad Boys: Ride or Die has made approximately $74.8 million, which is a total that Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has yet to reach domestically.

This weekend, Pixar's Inside Out 2 might be the real game changer. The early box office projections have the sequel coming in with $90 million, which would be the biggest opening of the year if the film can meet that number. Disney and Pixar executives will probably be doing cartwheels in the office if that happens. That's also something that the overall health of the box office really needs right now. We're firm believers that the best movies are usually the ones that get theatrical releases. And if people stop going to the movies, it ultimately hurts the industry.
