New Delhi : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the arrival of monsoon within 4 days in parts of Maharashtra, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar. Red alert for rainfall has been issued in states of West Bengal and Northeast (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh).
Additionally, rain is expected today in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. IMD has predicted wind speeds up to 60 KMPH in several districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, IMD has issued a heatwave alert in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Allahabad recorded temperatures exceeding 47 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day. Due to rising temperatures in Chhattisgarh, summer vacations have been extended until June 25th with schools reopening on June 26th.
The heatwave continues to grip Chhattisgarh, with Raipur and Rajnandgaon recording temperatures of 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday, June 16th. As a result, summer vacations have been extended until June 25th. Earlier, the state government had announced summer vacations from April 22nd to June 15th.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius on Monday, exceeding the season’s average by 6.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Bathinda in Punjab recorded a temperature of 46.9 degrees Celsius. Amritsar, Patiala, and Gurdaspur also recorded temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
