Reading Time: 2 minutesThe Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) successfully hosted the Experience Macao roadshow in Bangkok from June 14 to 16. The event featured various themed booths and interactive game zones, created in collaboration with Macao’s travel industry and Thailand tourism operators. Special travel offers were launched, attracting numerous local spectators who enjoyed the vibrant “tourism +” experience of Macao. This initiative is part of MGTO’s strategy to expand into the Southeast Asia market.
Engaging Over 190,000 Spectators
Building on the success of last year’s “Experience Macao, Unlimited” Mega Roadshow, this year’s event incorporated the theme “Experience Macao, Ma Ma Macao,” a heartfelt invitation in Thai language. The roadshow offered a rich variety of Macao tourism products, performances, and interactive zones. Booths were managed by the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and six integrated resort enterprises from Macao, showcasing their tourism facilities and new elements.
Special Travel Offers and Impressive Sales
The roadshow highlighted special offers on hotels and discounted air tickets from Air Macau, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and Greater Bay Airlines. Local residents had the opportunity to purchase these offers on-site, leading to the sale of about 864 hotel and air ticket products, totaling over 6.30 million Thai Baht (approximately 1.38 million patacas). Additionally, Thai residents can redeem electronic coupons obtained during the event for discounted air tickets and packages to Macao.
Updates Seminar & Travel Mart: Fostering Partnerships
In conjunction with the roadshow, MGTO hosted the “Macao Tourism + MICE Product Updates Seminar & Travel Mart Bangkok 2024,” bringing together 150 industry participants for discussions on partnership opportunities. This seminar was crucial in attracting potential leisure and MICE travelers from Thailand.
Comprehensive Promotional Campaign
MGTO executed a diverse promotional campaign to amplify the roadshow’s impact. This included outdoor advertisements, promotional videos on TikTok, an online dance challenge contest, and a flash dance show in a shopping mall. Media coverage and interviews were also arranged, ensuring extensive feature coverage of Macao’s new travel trends by various Thailand media outlets.
Star-Studded Performances and Influencer Engagement
The roadshow featured performances by Thai popstars Tay (Tawan Vihokratana) and New (Thitipoom Techaapaikhun), and travel bloggers Wanchai and Asapapailong. Singer-songwriter Tor Saksit and his mother also shared their travel experiences in Macao. Popular Thai TikTok influencers and lifestyle Facebook pages were invited to post about their experiences, further boosting the event’s promotional reach.
Ongoing Overseas Marketing Efforts
The Bangkok event marks MGTO’s fifth overseas roadshow of the year, following successful promotions in Tokyo, Singapore, Jakarta, and Seoul. An upcoming roadshow in Kuala Lumpur will continue to showcase Macao’s “tourism +” offerings. MGTO remains committed to participating in major regional and international travel fairs to elevate Macao’s profile as a premier travel destination.
