LATHAM, N.Y. — The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and Hudson Valley recently rebranded, simplifying its name and unveiling a new logo.
The organization will go by Regional Food Bank. According to a press release, the new moniker better represents its 23-county coverage area, which spans from the Canadian border to the New Jersey border, encompassing 41% of the landmass of New York State.
“It’s a new era for the Regional Food Bank, and especially with our growth and new distribution center in the Hudson Valley, and our hyper-local, county-by-county strategy. We wanted, and needed, one unified brand. And we wanted a brand that aligned with our efforts to be more customer service-oriented for our community partners and for neighbors in need. Today, 20% of the food we distribute goes directly to neighbors in need through programs we administer. The new brand perfectly matches up to our new tagline ‘for every neighbor in need,’” Regional Food Bank CEO Tom Nardacci said in a news release.
Regional Food Bank’s distribution center in the Hudson Valley is scheduled to open later this year. The 40,000-square-foot building will provide increased capacity to obtain, store, and distribute food donations to six counties in the Hudson Valley: in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan, and Putnam.
Regional Food Bank has experienced significant change over the past five years, including noteworthy growth to combat the effects of the pandemic and continued need in the many communities within its growing coverage area.
Reliance on the Food Bank is increasing. One in nine New Yorkers is considered food insecure. This is an increase of over 90,000 from last year, when 1 in 12 people lived with food insecurity. The organization’s look may be changing, but the mission to alleviate hunger, prevent food waste, and nourish communities remains the same.
