Jake Gyllenhaal is a big fan of easygoing shirts and excellent blazers, but who knew he was also a bit of a sneakerhead? Historically, the Road House star's footwear rotation has been filled with lovely derbies and glossy loafers. But this week, he's been experimenting hard with some pretty hype-y kicks, specifically those made in collaboration with Carhartt WIP, the streetwear-adjacent wing of the classic American workwear label.
Yesterday, at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations, the actor wore a gray polo shirt, a pair of khaki chinos, and the Carhartt WIP x New Balance 990v6. Regarded by many as one of the greatest 990v6s ever made, these launched last October and sold out within seconds. What made them extra popular was the fact they were done up in Carhartt's timeless brown-and-gray palette, made famous on pieces like its iconic Detroit work jacket.
Just five hours later, Gyllenhaal popped back up again in an entirely different fit for an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The Oscar nominee paired a white tank and silky pink shirt with the recent Carhartt WIP x Converse CTAS Pro, featuring hard-to-pull-off mismatched suede uppers.
Two huge collabs in less than 24 hours. If we were Hollywood's biggest sneakerhead, we'd be getting a wee bit worried.
