While the first part of the upcoming SUVs roundup focused on cars under Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom), the second part concentrates on the other end of the spectrum. The list includes a set of three-row SUVs and an electric SUV.
MG Gloster facelift
MG Motor India has been testing the Gloster facelift in the country, as is evident by the multiple sightings of the car. With a launch that could take place towards the end of the year, the flagship SUV will get a revised exterior design alongside new features inside out.
Under the hood, the facelifted Gloster will soldier on with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine in turbo and twin-turbo trims. Power will be sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
New Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda pulled the covers off the second-generation Kodiaq in October last year and this iteration is slated to arrive on Indian shores in Q4 CY24. Exterior highlights of this Toyota Fortuner-rival include a new grille, raked D-pillar, new alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, C-shaped LED tail lamps, and an LED light bar at the rear.
Inside, the three-row SUV from the Czech marque is inspired by the new-gen Superb, visible through elements such as the dual-tone brown and black theme, two-spoke steering wheel, 13-inch touchscreen unit on the centre console, and more. Further, the driver can access a multitude of details via the fully digital instrument cluster. A few other notable features include an ADAS suite, reverse parking camera, climate control, wireless charging, and ambient lighting.
While the global-spec Kodiaq now gets the option of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the India-spec car is likely to remain unchanged when it comes to the powertrain specifications. That said, the dimensions have a minor revision, details of which are live on our website.
Jeep Meridian facelift
Jeep will update its Compass-based three-row SUV in the coming months. Spy shots of the Meridian facelift confirm key updates that the model will receive upon launch, including an ADAS suite, minor tweaks to the grille, reworked headlamps and DRLs, and a fresh set of front and rear bumpers.
Details regarding the changes to the interior of the facelifted Meridian remain unknown at the moment. We expect the model to get feature revisions in the form of a new 12.3-inch screen, rear window blinds, and the latest UI for the touchscreen unit. Mechanically too, the model will remain unchanged over its predecessor.
Mercedes-Benz EQA
Mercedes-Benz will launch yet another EV in the Indian market, and this time the car will be the EQA. Essentially an electrified version of the A-Class hatchback, the EQA will be positioned below the EQB in the company’s lineup.
The smallest electric SUV in the range, the EQA will feature a blanked-off grille, LED light bars at the front and rear, dual-tone bumpers, new graphics for LED taillights, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. The interiors will be equipped with dual 10.25-inch screens, latest MBUX system, turbine-styled AC vents, and automatic climate control. Internationally, the car is offered with two battery pack options: 66.5kWh and 70.5kWh units with a range of up to 560km (WLTP-certified).
