Adani Airports Surpass One Million Tonnes In Cargo, Marking 7% Yearly Growth

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) had a standout FY 2023-24 with record cargo volumes, prestigious awards, and strategic expansions.

In fiscal year 2023-2024, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) successfully managed an exceptional one million tonnes of air freight, marking a significant accomplishment. This achievement highlights AAHL’s strong operational prowess and its strategic expansion in the aviation sector. Demonstrating robust growth, AAHL processed an impressive 1,013,115 metric tonnes of cargo in FY 2023-24, securing a commanding 30.1% share of the market. This reflects a substantial 7% year-over-year growth from the previous fiscal year’s total of 944,912 metric tonnes.

During this period, the bulk of AAHL’s cargo operations were international, with international shipments constituting 65% of the total cargo. This emphasizes AAHL’s effectiveness in global logistics and its solid domestic operations. The volume of international cargo reached 662,258 metric tonnes, marking a significant 9% year-over-year increase from the prior year’s 606,348 metric tonnes.

AAHL’s cargo handling operations were centered around key commodities such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishable goods, electrical/electronic items, and engineering products. These were adeptly managed at several major airports including Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, Mangaluru International Airport, Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, and Jaipur International Airport.

Primary international routes for AAHL’s cargo included destinations like Germany, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

  1. Record-Breaking Volumes at Mumbai International Airport: In March 2024, the airport reached its highest cargo volumes for the fiscal year, showcasing its capability as a major hub.
  2. Prestigious Awards:
  1. Expansion of Freight Operators: The year saw notable additions to Mumbai’s freight operators, including Challenge Group, CMA CGM Air Cargo, Air Pace, Kenya Airways, Indigo, and Uganda Airlines.
  2. Advancements in Digital Integration:
  1. Milestone for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad):
  1. Record International Cargo at Lucknow: Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow) reached an all-time high with 700 tonnes of international cargo handled in March 2024, underscoring its growing role in international logistics.
