The week will end warm and there is some sporadic chance for showers and maybe even a thunderstorm, but the weather will otherwise be seasonable and pleasant, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS Meteorologist Kyle Pederson said Sunday that we’ve “likely got a fairly nice week” coming up, with temperatures near to seasonal averages most days and only occasional showers called for throughout the work week.

“Mainly dry conditions, maybe a spot shower Monday or Tuesday but certainly not a washout,” Pederson said.

Monday should be mostly sunny, with highs in the middle 70s and no forecast chance of rain, according to the weather service. It should cool into the middle 50s overnight, when some clouds roll in.

On Tuesday there is a slight 20% chance those clouds produce rain in the afternoon, when the otherwise sunny day is forecast to reach a high in the mid to upper 70s.

The weather service predicts the same small chance of a shower through Tuesday evening, when the temperature should start dropping toward a forecast low in the upper 50s.

The clouds roll out for a sunny Wednesday, with predicted highs near 80 in Boston, according to the weather service. Overnight lows should stay in the low 60s under mostly clear skies.

A high pressure system, Pederson said, will bring a wave of possibly “intense” heat into the region on Thursday and potentially push daytime temperatures toward the upper 80s in Boston and into the low 90s regionally.

According to Pederson, the average high temperature for this time of year would be closer to the middle 70s in Boston and slightly cooler in and around Worcester, meaning the end of this week could be unseasonably warm.

That warm air could even bring some thunder and lighting along with it, the meteorologist said, though the weather system is too far out to say for certain what may develop, he said.

“Friday is really the next chance of rain, possibly even some scattered thunderstorms,” Pederson said.

Friday should otherwise be a warm, sunny day, with high temperatures again pushing 90 in the region and getting quite close to that in Boston, Pederson said. The weather service predicts there is a 50% chance of rain overnight Friday, with low temperatures in the middle 60s.

As of now the weekend is forecast to be in the middle 80s with mostly sunny skies on both days but a slight chance of rain on Saturday.
