The U.S. State Department has issued an urgent “Do Not Travel” warning for Burma, citing civil unrest, armed conflict, and arbitrary enforcement of local laws.

The State Department has updated its travel warning for Burma (Myanmar), advising against travel due to “civil unrest, armed conflict, and arbitrary enforcement of local laws.”

Burma now holds a level 4, “Do Not Travel,” warning. Officials emphasize that travelers should reconsider visiting the country due to inadequate healthcare, areas with landmines and unexploded ordinances, and the risk of wrongful detention.
