NEET results controversy: Ramadoss calls for cancellation, re-evaluation

PMK founder S. Ramadoss has urged the central government to cancel the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) from next year and conduct a re-evaluation for the present year. The call comes amidst allegations of irregularities and unfair practices in the recently released NEET results.

In a detailed statement, Ramadoss highlighted several concerns regarding the evaluation process and the release of NEET results. “There are several irregularities in providing marks. This has strengthened the demand for cancelling NEET exam,” he said. He pointed out the unexpected early release of results, which were anticipated on June 14 but were made available sooner. This unexpected timing has added to the suspicion and skepticism among stakeholders.

A particularly troubling aspect brought up by Ramadoss is the anomalous scoring patterns observed in the results. “Six students from Haryana, trained in the same coaching centre, have secured full marks,” he noted, suggesting that this raises serious questions about the integrity of the scoring process. He further emphasized the improbability of achieving scores like 719, 718, and 717 under the current evaluation system, labeling these as signs of potential irregularities.

Ramadoss criticized the testing agency for its inadequate explanations regarding these discrepancies. “The explanation given by the testing agency is also not clear. Due to the methodology followed by the agency, several students have been affected,” he said. This lack of transparency and clarity has only fueled the demand for a thorough review and re-evaluation of the results

In a more severe accusation, Ramadoss claimed that the way the exam was conducted has drawn widespread criticism. He alleged that the question papers were leaked to certain coaching centres, undermining the fairness and validity of the examination.
