HOUSTON — If you spend a lot of time outdoors, you may want to limit it on Friday.
Aside from another hot June day, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued the day as an Ozone Action Day for the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria areas. That means conditions around the area are ripe for producing high levels of ozone pollution.
Calm winds, sunshine, hot temperatures, and pollution from large metropolitan areas create unhealthy levels of ozone at the ground level. This creates issues with folks with respiratory issues and they should limit their time outdoors.
TCEQ has ways that you can help prevent ozone pollution. Some of those ways are sharing a ride, walking, riding a bicycle, or taking your lunch to work. You can also avoid drive-thru lanes and keep your vehicle properly tuned.
