Kyra McCandless, Mia McCandless and Phoebe Jiang swept their singles matches in straight sets as No. 1 Lexington (23-0) advanced to the Div. 1 state girls tennis semifinals with a 3-2 win over Middlesex League rival Winchester.
The eighth-seeded Red and Black (16-4) won both doubles as Nora Dunn/Andrea Bilic and Siena Pierce won their matches in straight sets.
Boys tennis
No. 1 St. John’s Prep (20-0) continued its dominance, rolling to a 5-0 win over No. 8 Acton-Boxboro in a Div. 1 state quarterfinal. John DeAngelis, Jack Prokopis and Lule Free won their matches in two sets, while the two doubles team of Luke Prokopis/Boris Kouzminov and Mark McDuffie/Alex Melville surrendered just four games in their one-sided wins.
