Northern Colorado hurdler Jerome Campbell advanced to the finals in the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and earned All-American status for the second time in his career.
Campbell, a sophomore from Jamaica, ran 13.435 seconds in his heat Wednesday to finish seventh overall among the 24 hurdlers who qualified for the prestigious meet at Oregon’s Hayward Field
Campbell’s time was fourth-best in his heat, and he edged San Jose State’s Malachi Snow for seventh by two one-thousandths of a second. Snow finished eighth in 13.437 seconds.
The top nine hurdlers advance to the finals Friday and earn status as All Americans, according to UNC athletics.

Campbell, 21, was an indoor All-American in March 2023 in the 60-meter hurdles after a seventh-place finish at the NCAA meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He is scheduled to compete later this month at the Jamaican track and field Olympic trials June 27-30 in Kingston.
Campbell’s time in Wednesday’s semifinals in Eugene was faster than his qualifying time for an NCAA regional meet last month — but slower than the times he recorded in consecutive races at the meet hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Campbell qualified for the outdoor championships with a time of 13.30 seconds in Arkansas.
He qualified for regionals by running 13.53 seconds at an invitational during the regular season in March. He lowered the time to 13.36 in his first race in Arkansas, only to then drop the time two days later to the 13.30.
