Former Raleigh dance instructor charged with child sex abuse
A former dance instructor is accused of sex crimes against two children.
Wake County Deputies charged 33-year-old Justin McKoy with multiple counts of child sex abuse.
The prosecutor detailed the accusations against McKoy and pushed for either no bond or a high bond. McKoy’s first court appearance took five minutes.
During the hearing, a judge went over the charges that include multiple counts of child sexual abuse against two children.
McKoy previously worked at CC & Company Dance in Raleigh. The warrants indicate McKoy did not know the children from his work with the dance company.
A prosecutor then shared with the judge why McKoy should be given no bond or a high bond. The judge set McKoy’s bond at $750,000. He was then appointed a court attorney and ushered back to his cell.
McKoy did have a couple of supporters in the courtroom, who did not have a comment. McKoy’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 26.
The company provided WRAL News with a statement on the matter.
“The safety of our dancers and their families is vitally important to our organization. That’s why we thoroughly vet all employees, include conducting criminal background checks. We are aware of the arrest of Justin McKoy, a former employee of CC & Co. Dance Complex. We have not been contacted by law enforcement, but if we are, we will fully cooperate with authorities.”
