Matt Wilson, a first-call drummer for everyone who is anyone in jazz and a long-time friend of Litchfield Jazz and a member of the Litchfield Jazz Camp faculty, will perform at the Litchfield Jazz Presents series at the Waterbury Theater’s Poli Club, 100 East Main St., Waterbury on Friday.
There are performances at 7 and 9 p.m.
For the Poli date, Wilson will perform with saxophonist Awan Jenkins, guitarist Spencer Hoefert and bassist Conway Campbell.
Wilson has appeared at the Litchfield Jazz Festival 19 times in 18 years with various groups; his quartet, his quartet plus strings, his Arts & Crafts group and with Mario Pavone, Dewey Redman, Bill Mays, Denny Zeitlin, Dena DeRose, Lee Konitz, Helio Alves, in a Salute to George Coleman with Gary Smulyan and Eric Alexander, Smulyan’s Baritone Summit and in a Tribute to the great drummer Charli Persip.
Wilsonhas been a resident artist at Litchfield Jazz Camp since 2010.
