An air cargo route was launched recently linking Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province in China, and Karachi in Pakistan.

The first service in the new route was of an all-cargo plane carrying 6 tonnes of freight, including clothing, electronics products and other commodities, which took off from Guiyang and arrived in Karachi after six hours.

This is the first air freight route linking the province in China with a Belt and Road Initiative member country, a Chinese-state-controlled media outlet reported.

The route will help turn Guiyang into a cargo distribution centre in southwest China.
