A 15-year-old boy was killed Monday and three others were wounded, including a second teenager, in what Prince William County, Va., police said was a “targeted shooting” in a townhouse community in the county’s Triangle area.
One or more passersby, “probably on foot,” opened fire on the group, she said, adding, “It’s wasn’t random, we know that much.”
The 15-year-old died at a hospital, Carr said, but none of the other victims was gravely wounded. She said a 16-year-old suffered a grazing wound and two men, 18 and 20, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police generally do not publicly identify victims who have not been killed, and Virginia law bars authorities from disclosing the names of juvenile victims even in homicide cases. Carr said she could provide no further details about the shooting, which is under investigation.
