Ford CEO Jim Farley said that the company is two years away from giving technology that will enable drivers to take their eyes off roads and hands off the wheel, Bloomberg reported.
He told Bloomberg TV that they were "getting really close, adding that they could do it with a prototype but were looking to make headway in doing it in a cost-effective manner.
Farley believes Ford can offer the feature in 2026, to make it the first mass-market brand to offer what is called Level 3 autonomy, the newswire reported.
