FALLS VILLAGE – Stephen E. Tapley, 57, of Falls Village, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 6, 2024, from his home with family by his side.
Stephen was born in Hartford on Dec. 13, 1966. He resided in Torrington before moving to Falls Village. He was an employee of Aerospace in Bantam and later with On Target Utility Service. He attended the Evangelical Baptist Church of Torrington, and also Friendship Baptist Church of Litchfield.
Stephen was quite sports-minded, having played basketball in both grade school and high school. He was a graduate of Torrington High School. He then went to golf and softball, where he did very well in both. He was a die-hard fan of both the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Falls Village; his daughter Ashley (Brian) and granddaughter Sierra of Winsted; his father, Barry Tapley of Torrington; also his stepsisters Susan Abbott and Sarah (Keith) Douglas of Torrington, and his stepson Doug MacKinnon of New Hampshire.
He is also survived by his uncle Charles Tapley of Bangor, Maine, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased on Nov. 19, 2023 by his stepmother Edna Tapley of Torrington.
There will be a memorial service on June 8 at 4 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Litchfield. Interment service will be at the convenience of the family.
