Such has been the blitz coverage of Derry’s tumbling form graph that it would be easy to think little else of any interest has happened on football fields so far this summer.

Their startling decline was always going to attract attention but it wouldn’t have been nearly as extensive if the rest of the championship was crackling with high-voltage action. Whatever about Derry’s defensive implosion and their little-boys-lost impressions, they remain in the race for Sam Maguire, so there’s still time for corrective action.
