After more than a decade, the transformation of East Market Street in NuLu will begin construction this month. According to our partner Louisville Business First, construction will start the week of June 17 and is expected to finish October of 2025. While plans for the multi-million dollar improvement project was first unveiled in 2012, the city held on to the plans until they could get the $10.3 million to fund it. Funding was finally secured in 2021, but public works officials said utility conflicts required the design to be updated. That delayed the project by another three years. The construction will add curb extensions, bike lanes and new landscaping, improve crosswalks and expand amenity areas on sidewalks.
