Last month, Samsung smartphones and tablets started getting the May 2024 Google Play System update. It brought new versions of Google Play Store, Google Play services, Android TV Core Services, and Android WebView, which offered new features as well as performance improvements and bug fixes.

However, the May 2024 Google Play System update also introduced an issue on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Many people on various platforms complained that after installing the update, apps on their devices were opening at a significantly slower speed than before. We too experienced this issue on our Galaxy S23. Well, Samsung has just acknowledged the issue and it has also provided a solution for the problem.

The story continues after the video…

On Samsung’s Community forum for Korea, Samsung confirms that after installing the update, “the app launch speed slows down.” However, the company further adds that this issue pops up only “when the device is used for a long time after” installing the update. So, what should you do to fix the annoying issue?

Samsung says that to fix the problem, all you have to do is restart your Galaxy smartphone or tablet. One of the ways you can do that is by swiping down twice on the status bar, clicking on the power icon, and selecting the Restart option.

The brand recommends people restart their device after installing the update even if they haven’t been facing the issue. We tried the solution on our Galaxy S23 and it solved the issue. We hope that it fixes the issue on your device as well.
