Team India's experienced wicketkeeper batsman dinesh karthik has announced his retirement. karthik has announced his retirement from all kinds of cricket on the occasion of his 39th birthday today. He shared an emotional note on social media and informed about this. With this, DK's 20-year-long cricket career has come to an end. He was last seen playing for RCB in IPL 2024.

He wrote in his social media note, "In the last few days I have been very happy with your love, support and affection. I heartily thank all the fans for awakening these feelings."

DK further wrote, "After a lot of thought for some time, I have decided to retire from competitive cricket. I officially announce my retirement and am ready to face new challenges."

'Lucky to be able to play for the country'

DK mentioned that he considers himself lucky to be able to play for the country. He wrote, "Millions of people play cricket in our country, but I am one of the few lucky ones who got a chance to play for the country and even more fortunate to get the love of so many fans and friends."

Dinesh karthik made his debut for Team india in 2004 at the age of 19. He played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 60 T20Is. DK scored 1025 runs in Tests, 1752 in ODIs and 686 in T20Is. He scored the only century of his international career against bangladesh in Mirpur in 2007. DK played for 6 teams in the IPL. During this, he scored 4842 runs in 257 matches. karthik last played for Team india in november 2022.
