The email, which also mentioned the YMCA building on NSC Bose Road and the YMCA campus in Nandanam as targets, prompted swift action from law enforcement. Upon receiving the threat, top-level police officers were immediately alerted, and bomb detection and disposal squads were dispatched to all three locations.
Using sniffer dogs and bomb detectors, the squads conducted thorough searches of the Chennai airport, the YMCA building, and the YMCA campus. After extensive checks, the authorities declared the threat a hoax, finding no explosives at any of the sites.
This recent threat follows a similar incident on Sunday, May 26, when an email threatened to bomb the Chennai airport. That threat also resulted in heightened security measures and was eventually determined to be a hoax after an investigation.
Authorities are currently working to trace the sender of the latest threatening email. The repeated hoax threats have prompted the police to increase their efforts in identifying and apprehending the individual or group responsible for these disruptions.
