Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 10.49%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(up 6.18%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 3.75%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 3.52%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(up 3.40%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 3.30%), DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(up 2.95%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(up 2.59%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 2.58%) and Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.(up 2.25%) stood among the top gainers.

Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 1.12%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 0.89%) and Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 0.60%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 733.21 points up at 23263.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 2507.47 points at 76468.78.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 10.2%), NTPC Ltd.(up 9.14%), State Bank of India(up 9.07%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 8.92%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 7.48%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 6.86%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 6.59%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 6.21%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 6.11%) and UltraTech Cement Ltd.(up 5.6%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.33%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.12%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.73%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 0.52%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.47%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 0.24%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.15%) and Infosys Ltd.(down 0.08%) closed in the red.
