Person drowns after falling into water in Franklin County

A person drowned Monday after falling into the water in Franklin County.

Franklin County Emergency Services confirmed one person was found dead after dive teams responded to a pond in the 8400 block of N.C. Highway 39, near Zebulon.

Before 9 a.m., authorities told WRAL News a man was fishing from a boat and fell in the water.

Another person tried to save him, but the man never resurfaced.

A Youngsville water rescue team looked for the man.

The team was able to rescue a separate person.

Crews from the Pilot Volunteer Fire Department, Bunn Volunteer Fire Department, Wake Forest Fire Department, Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County EMS, Franklin County Emergency Management and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
