When you get ready in the morning, you may focus your energy on finding the perfect outfit for the day and overlook one of the most important pieces of your wardrobe in the process — your underwear. A great pair of underwear made of the right material, with the right cut that stays in place without riding up or falling down, is key to ensuring you feel comfortable all day long. With so many options to choose from — thongs, boxers, bikinis, hipsters and more — it can be difficult to decide on the perfect pair.
In the Good Housekeeping Institute, we regularly test intimate apparel of all kinds, including bras, lingerie, shapewear and underwear. We evaluate them in our Textiles Lab and share samples with consumer testers who are able to try them and provide us with real-user feedback. In our most recent round of underwear testing, we analyzed more than 40 styles of women's underwear, including thongs, bikinis and boy shorts for properties like washability, stretch recovery, overall fit, comfort, appearance and more. We combined our testing data and relative expertise with recommendations from GH analysts and editors to put together our list of the best underwear for women.
