The Kentucky Derby Museum’s signature exhibit is getting some major upgrades.The museum was awarded a $1 million grant from the James Graham Brown Foundation.The money will cover part of the cost to overhaul “The Greatest Race.”The 18-minute movie in the museum’s 360-degree theater puts visitors at the center of the Kentucky Derby experience.“The entire project is a $2.3 million project including a major update,” said Patrick Armstrong, President and CEO at Kentucky Derby Museum. “We wanted to catch all of the new architecture at Churchill Downs. A lot's changed in 10 years next door. So, to further our mission here at the museum, to engage, educate, and excite everyone about the extraordinary experience that is the Kentucky Derby and certainly this grant will help us with that mission.”All of the work will be done off-site. So, “The Greatest Race” will continue to be shown every day.The re-mastered movie is expected to debut next April as the Derby Museum celebrates its 40th anniversary.
