Met Éireann forecasts warm weather today with temperatures up to 21C and possible light rain in some parts

This Bank Holiday weekend will bring warm weather with a mix of sunshine and rain, Met Éireann has said.

Today will be mostly dry with cloudy skies over Ulster and Connacht. Meanwhile, it will be sunnier elsewhere with some patches of mist and fog.

Cloud will spread to the south to cover most of the country this morning and afternoon. A few places in the north and west might see light rain and drizzle. It will be a warm day with temperatures ranging between 16 to 21 degrees.

It will be the warmest in the south of the country, which will enjoy the best of the sunshine, and slightly cooler in the northwest.

Tonight will continue to be mostly cloudy. There will be some patches of light rain, drizzle and mist, which are most likely in Ulster and Connacht. Temperatures will drop to 9 to 13 degrees.

Tomorrow will remain cloudy with some rain or drizzle in places, which will become patchier throughout the day. There might be some bright or sunny intervals developing.

Temperatures will be from 14 to 18 degrees, while they could reach up to 19 and 20 degrees in the south and southeast which will enjoy the best of sunny spells.

A cloudy Monday night will bring patchy light rain coming from the west, turning more persistent for Atlantic coastal counties towards dawn. Temperatures might drop to 10 and 13 degrees.

Tuesday will be largely cloudy and damp in the morning with outbreaks of light rain or drizzle. Northwest will see sunny spells in the morning, extending across the country by the early afternoon.

It will be followed by some showers, which will be most frequent and might turn heavy in the north. Temperatures will range between 13 and 18 degrees, while it will be the coolest in the north and west.

Tuesday night is expected to be dry and clear for most of the country. It will turn cloudier in the north and west with some scattered showers. Temperatures will drop to 5 and 9 degrees.

This week will be mixed and cooler due to rain and showers at times, however it will also bring some sunny spells, Met Éireann has said.
