India’s Amit Panghal and Jaismine Lamboria secured quotes for Paris Olympics during the second World Boxing Qualifiers in Bangkok on Sunday.
Amit was 4-1 down after the first round and managed to stage a comeback with swift punches and agility to win the next two rounds for an overall 5-0 victory over China’s Liu Chuang in the men’s 51kg quarterfinals.
The 28-year-old is the second Indian male boxer to qualify for the 2024 Olympics after Nishant Dev booked his spot after beating Moldova’s Vasile Cebotari 5-0 in the men’s 71kg event.

Jaismine Lamboria beat Mali’s Marine Camara 5-0 in the women’s 57kg quarterfinals to secure the quota India had lost after Parveen Hooda, the Asian Games bronze medallist, received a 22-month suspension for a whereabouts failure.
Amit, Jaismine and Nishant join Nikhat Zareen (women’s 50kg), Preeti Pawar (women’s 54kg) and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain (women’s 75kg), who clinched the Paris spots via Asian Games 2022 wins.
However, Sachin Siwach Jr. lost 5-0 to Kyrgyz Republic’s Munarbek Seiitbek Uulu in a third-place box-off, deciding the winner of the third and final quota in the men’s 57kg category.
