Gardaí monitor threat of far-right unrest ahead of European and local elections

Specialist gardaí are conducting a nationwide “security threat assessment” on the potential for disruption by figures from the far right outside local election count centres next week.
The Sunday Independent understands that officers attached to the Garda National Crime and Security Intelligence Service are working behind the scenes to establish if protests, with the potential to turn violent, are planned on the weekend of the local and European elections starting on June 7.
