Woman killed while crossing street Saturday night in Fayetteville

Authorities on Sunday said a woman was killed the night before in a hit-and-run in Fayetteville.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to a crash around 10:04 p.m. around the Cliffdale Road and Seaford Drive intersection.

Officers said 63-year-old Rebecca Dunbenit was trying to cross Cliffdale Road on a mobility scooter when an unknown vehicle hit her scooter.

Dunbenit died from her injuries.

Police said no evidence at the scene indicated the type of vehicle involved, but the investigation is ongoing.
