An Aspen man was arrested and charged with menacing, a class 5 felony, along with second-degree trespass and harassment, both petty offenses, on May 27.

According to the Aspen Police report, Officer Ritchie Zah responded to a call regarding a male suspect who had threatened a staff member at the St. Regis hotel and appeared intoxicated. The incident began when the suspect got into an argument with a female bartender at the St. Regis, using profanities and causing a disturbance. The bartender asked the suspect to leave, and when the hotel manager escorted him to the door, the suspect continued his verbal assault and threatened the manager with a knife. Security camera footage corroborated the events described by the staff, according to Zah.

The suspect was read his Miranda rights and taken into custody at the Pitkin County Jail. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for June 3 at 10:30 a.m.
