My friend from Nagpur recently visited Pune for some work and due to some medical cum official reasons he had to extend his stay.
He drove in his uncle's car and the service was due since a month, and his uncle suggested him to get it serviced in Pune's official brand service center. He thus ringed them and took the appointment.
He visited the service center and opted for only whatever is included in the normal yearly service package. He told the attending executive that the car is otherwise perfect- zero issues.
He took the usual snaps of the cars odo, fuel, meter, the usual all side pics and inside. Also showed the executive that all lights, ac, vipers, steering controls, mirror etc. are working absolutely fine. And thus, he left his car there.
He received a call the next day for the delivery but due to work he couldn't make it and went the next day.
He was told that the car is fine and during the job sheet meeting, few recommendations came for and the costliest ones were gearbox mounting which can result in steering vibrations and costs a whooping 25k and suspension low arm bush have developed cuts and replacement costs 6k and a fog lamp was broken.
He also added that these need not be replaced on priority but whenever he wishes to as they aren't going to cause any critical issues.
Friend was shocked as nor he/nor uncle faced any suspension issues or anything as mentioned in the recommendations. He made the payment and car was handed over to him.
He took his sweet time to inspect the car functions if everything is working like before. Everything was working as is except few observations and thus the drama started.
Driver side mirror was working perfectly fine before handing over the car to them but now it was making that trrr trr sound when adjusted the mirror from the dashboard controller. The driver side mirror motor wasn't making noise during delivery and now its making that tar-tar motor sound. They opened the mirror, inspected and did some lubrication job and said motor is all good and doesn't require any work and refused to give any valid reason for the weird noise. If the mirror and motor is fine, how and why is it making that weird noise suddenly?
The SC did a trip reset and stole fuel as well. During car handover, the fuel bars were 7 and now it dropped to 5. Odo and Trip shows just 4km driven and its impossible even for a Lamborghini to consume around 3 ltrs to travel just 4 km distance. The approximate mileage now also dropped down to 80kmpl from 115kmpl earlier as shown on the odo per the current fuel capacity. Thus, SC robbed him off the fuel. Unethical!
The left fog light was working earlier, and, in their report, they mentioned its broken. How can all of a sudden it got broke in 2 days? They quoted him 3k for a fog lamp. HE refused to get it done from them.
Underneath noise or Suspension noise. Lastly, on the way home, he started feeling a lot of thud-thud sound and felt every small road patches, and speed breakers and potholes no matter how small it is. Earlier it was never this way and was smooth and only felt huge holes or patches.
He immediately called the service advisor and reversed back.
He asked them for an explanation and there came their lame unconfident stupid responses and blamed was passed on to the customer.
The service executive showed him the job sheet and that the mirror issue was already highlighted, and my friend immediately caught him saying that the black pen ink doesn't match at all and that this was mentioned/hand- written only after he phoned him. Ashamed, the executive immediately walked inside one of the cabins. How unethical this is?
Executive came after some time stating that car needs to be kept for another day to inspect the issue to which friend obviously denied saying no way I want to get my car damaged further.
Then after an hours wait some technical person took the car for inspection and after returning, he said the mirror is absolutely fine, the noise can be ignored and that they have opened it, inspected and even lubricated.
Still, how can this happen, the guy said its an electronic thing anything could go wrong anytime anywhere.
When asked about the fuel tampering, he said we don't do such thing and after cleaning and topping up the engine oil we keep the car running for some time may be that consumed the fuel.
And for the suspensions, he said during that washing/cleaning underneath the car, water also cleans every area and gets rids of all accumulated dust/mud and everything gets free and that's why the sound. And there's nothing wrong with the suspension and the sound will go after replacing both low arm bushes.
He also added that they cannot keep a track of every detail while taking the custody of customers cars as they have to deal with lots of cars every day.
See, this is how they responded to every query's, totally unprofessional, unethical, shady and attitude is like they are innocent in all this.
Friend realized that it's not worth to argue with these idiots further and that all this costed him 5hrs of his office.
He narrated this disheartening and horrifying exp. to me only today and writing here to get some help or escalate the matter to the proper authorities.
He even ringed his hometown garage guy and his garage guy clearly stated that that's how serviced centers usually do their job. Create a new issue so that customer returns back, and they get to earn and loot more.
Don't want to tarnish the brand but genuine people who got contacts can help in this regard can pm me.
