The Howler Alpine Slide opens today

The Howler Alpine Slide at Howelsen Hill, operated by Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, will officially open for the 2024 summer season today.
The Howler Alpine Slide is a 2,400-foot track that bends and curves down the natural landscape of Howelsen Hill, accessed by a chairlift ride to the top of historic Howelsen Hill with views of downtown Steamboat Springs.
A single ride is $20 for adults and $17 for youth 13 and under and military. Children may ride along in the same sled with a paying adult for an additional $12 (must be under 48″ tall). Children under two years old are not permitted to ride the slide.
Uphill access to mountain bike trails is available for $20 per rider for the first ride and $10 for subsequent rides on the same day. Chairlift rides are also available for $12. The slide is open Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (closed Tuesdays) from June 1 – 21, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., June 22 – August 11, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., August 12 – August 18, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and weekends only from August 19 – September 22, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. T
