Today’s daily digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

10/10: Another stunning day with wall-to-wall blue skies and sunshine. Breezes are a bit more under control. Probably near 75 in dry, comfortable air. Wow.

Express forecast

  • Today: Super sunny, less breeze. Highs: Within a few degrees of 75.
  • Tonight: Clear and calm. Lows: Low to mid-50s.
  • Tomorrow: Bright with a few clouds. Highs: Around 80 to mid-80s.
  • Sunday: Some rain chances. Highs: Within a few degrees of 80.

Forecast in detail

Today is just a stunning, true winner of a day. After higher gusts Thursday, breezes continue to trend slowly downward the next couple of days. Even as 80s begin their return tomorrow, dew points — a measure of humidity — are still comfortable. Rain chances and some mugginess return Sunday, then lasts into next workweek.

Today (Friday): I’ve run out of superlatives. Blue skies, few to no clouds, comfortable air and most of us in the mid-70s. It’s rare to see such high confidence for such high sunshine levels. So, use that sunscreen. Breezes from the north and northwest are fairly light, though one or two gusts around 15 mph are possible. Dew points stay in the ultra-comfortable 40s, too. Confidence: High

Tonight: Clear and calm with temperatures ranging across the 50s near sunrise. Take a jacket if out late, perhaps, but I am going to enjoy any hint of comfort and even momentary chill. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Saturday): Sunshine may get slightly more filtered with time as high clouds move in. Breezes and humidity remain low. High temperatures rise to around 80 to the mid-80s in the warmest spots. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Clouds continue their slow increase, leading to partly cloudy conditions. Low temperatures bottom out near 60 degrees to the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday: Clouds dominate a bit more than in days prior, but morning hours have the best chance at being somewhat bright with perhaps limited rain chances. Shower chances grow with time, overall, though. A weak low-pressure area may try to pass by during the late day, setting off more showers and storms — perhaps even some downpours. High temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s have a tinge of humidity tagging along. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead

Sunday night: Rain chances should dip with time, but we could have a couple of roving showers and storms in the region. Skies may remain cloudy overall. Stickier low temperatures may only get to within a few degrees of 65. Confidence: Medium

Skies are at least partly sunny Monday and Tuesday and any rain chances appear light and fleeting, although there may be a better chance by late Tuesday. Even without an organized severe weather threat, we could see a quick storm or two (and welcome rain) during the afternoon through evening hours. Outdoor plans look fairly safe, but remember that when thunder roars, head indoors. Moderate humidity with dew points well into the 60s may accompany high temperatures within a few degrees of 85. Confidence: Medium
