In early October 2023, U.S. fans rushed to the CW network to witness the premiere of a brand-new drama called Sullivan's Crossing.
Based on the book series by writer Robyn Carr (who also wrote the books that inspired the hit Netflix show Virgin River), the story follows neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) who seeks refuge in her hometown of Sullivan's Crossing after being sued in Boston for negligence. Along the way, she builds and reconciles a number of different relationships, including with the elusive Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray) and her estranged father, Harry "Sully" Sullivan (Scott Patterson).
Since the show's U.S. premiere (it originally aired in Canada), fans have been dying to know more about Maggie and her life in the idyllic town — and thankfully, it seems like we're going to get the chance to really dive in.
Is there a season 2 of Sullivan's Crossing?
In June 2023, four months ahead of the Sullivan's Crossing premiere in the United States, Canadian fans were ecstatic to learn that the drama was picked up for season 2. At the time of the renewal, Deadline reported that the series was the "highest-rated Canadian drama launch in over two years" on its parent channel CTV.
"As partners for season two, we cannot wait to work alongside this talented cast and excellent creative team to deliver another emotionally captivating season," Brad Schwartz, CW's president of entertainment, told the outlet. "Audiences can give their hearts to this show knowing that it is coming back for much, much more."
As the news broke, Scott made sure to let his followers know that he'll be back for another round on television:
"🇨🇦 CANADA 🇨🇦 SEASON 2!" he wrote on Instagram on June 8. "The gang will be returning to 'Sullivan's Crossing' for another season on CTV! 👏🏻"
Shortly after the season 1 finale aired in December 2023, the show's U.S. Instagram posted a video in which the cast themselves shared the good news about Sullivan's Crossing season 2.
"Are we renewed for Season 2, you ask?" read the official caption. "Why don’t we let the cast tell you ... 😁👏."

What's more, Scott revealed to Good Housekeeping in October 2023 that amid a previous interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA during its strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), he was already busy filming new episodes for Sullivan's Crossing season 2. He also teased a little bit about what he was working on.
"Right now, I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia," he explained over Zoom. "It's going very well. It's more of this sort of deep work that we're doing, deep emotional work ... I'm not involved as of yet in the romance and the rom-drama category. I'm in the drama category ... it's a real challenge every day, so that's why it's worth doing."
Is there a Sullivan's Crossing season 2 release date on the CW?
Right now, there is not an official season 2 release date for Sullivan's Crossing in the U.S. The show wrapped filming new episodes and is currently airing in Canada. The good news for U.S. viewers is that as of May 20, there is an update on when to expect an all-new season on the CW.
In a post uploaded on Instagram, U.S. viewers got a first look teaser of Sullivan's Crossing season 2. Picking up after the events of season 1, the show's social team confirmed fans will get to see new episodes in the fall of 2024.
"When life takes a turn, follow your heart," read the caption. "A new season of #SullivansCrossing is coming this fall to The CW!"
Although Sullivan's Crossing did give an official update, fans are still curious about an exact timeframe for new episodes to start airing.
"You mean to tell me after seeing this we have to wait until the FALL for this 🤯," one person wrote in the comments. "I cannot wait omg I love Sullivan's Crossing!!!!!! Hurry up fall!!!" another penned. "Can't wait why can't it start now 😍," a different follower added.

While we'll need to wait for the premiere before we get the full picture of what's happening in Sullivan's Crossing, Morgan gave a sneak peek at what's to come for season 2. When she spoke to Brit + Co. in November 2023 about storylines she was surprised to be working on, she detailed one major plot line.
"We get to learn a bit more about [Maggie] and [her mom] Phoebe (Lynda Boyd) leaving the Crossing and kind of more why and how that happened," she explained to the outlet. "So, that was good to find out."
Additionally, Morgan revealed she needed to do some homework for season 2, like learning to play chess and watching more medical videos so she could be familiar with the character's job. "I was like, 'Wow. Wow. I wasn't expecting to do that on a Sunday night, but great,'" she added.
