Sarova Hotels Celebrates 50 Years of Premier Hospitality in Kenya

Sarova Hotels is deeply ingrained in Kenya’s tourism sector, and the country celebrates its 50th anniversary with pride in April 2024. This milestone marks not just a number but a legacy of exceptional service and enduring values.

The idea for this homegrown hotel brand sprouted in 1974 when its founders, G.S. Vohra, Mohinder Singh Vohra, and John Ngata Kariuki, honored their families in a unique way. The name SAROVA was coined from the initials of their wives’ names: Swaran Vohra, Rose Kariuki, and Varsha Vohra.

Their first venture, the Ambassadeur Hotel on Moi Avenue, was a family-owned gem until 1998, marking the beginning of Sarova’s journey in the hospitality industry.

Sarova’s growth has been remarkable, with nine properties across Kenya showcasing their commitment to excellence and innovation. From Nairobi’s Sarova Stanley & Sarova Panafric to Mombasa’s Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa, each location is a testament to Kenyan culture and hospitality.
