What’s new on Disney+ in June 2024

After the very slight programming schedule that it had in May, Disney+‘s lineup in June actually has some new shows that aren’t related to Marvel, Doctor Who, or Star Wars. However, the big attraction for the month is still the new Star Wars series The Acolyte, which is getting a two-episode premiere on June 4.

Disney is also celebrating Donald Duck’s 90th anniversary this month by adding three classic cartoons starring the iconic character. Although that does raise a few questions: Why are only three Donald Duck cartoons being added? And shouldn’t all of the Disney cartoon shorts have been on Disney+ by now?

Regardless, it’s heartening to see that there are more viewing options this month, especially from National Geographic. Sci-fi fans will also get to enjoy the remaining episodes of Doctor Who‘s current season.

Our roundup of everything new on Disney+ in June 2024 can be found below, with our favorites highlighted in bold.

The best shows on Disney+ right now (May 2024)
Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in Doctor Who.

The landscape for new shows on Disney+ is about as barren as the deserts of Tatooine in the Star Wars universe. That's what happens when corporate mandates demand profitability at all costs, even if it means cutting the original programming down to almost nothing. In May, Disney+ subscribers only have a new season of Doctor Who and Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. No other shows are premiering this month, not even via National Geographic.

There is a new series, Star Wars: The Acolyte, coming next month. Our only question is simple: Will there be any other new Disney+ shows to go along with it? Or is a nearly empty programing slate the new normal?  We'll find out soon. In the meantime, keep reading for the rest of our picks for the best shows on Disney+ right now.
