About 10 tonnes of tomatoes imported from Nepal are en route and will be distributed in Uttar Pradesh this weekend at a subsidized rate of Rs 70 per kg, said a top NCCF official, media reports say.
Since July 11, the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF) has been selling discounted tomatoes to boost domestic supply and control prices.
So far, NCCF has sold 9,38,862 kg of tomatoes in Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Imports will be moderated based on local availability and price trends.
