Pennell coached at Valencia from 2013-2015 and at Saugus from 2015-2020. He won three Foothill League titles as the Centurions’ JV head coach.
The Vikings finished third in the Foothill League standings this spring and reached the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2. They were eliminated by eventual Division 2 runner-up Moorpark.
Senior Aidan Voyles was named an All-Foothill League first team and juniors Noah Jaquez and Lincoln Hunt were named to the second team.
Previous Valencia baseball coach Brad Meza was hired this month as the Hart head coach and succeeds Jim Ozella, who was at the helm for 25 seasons. Hart was this year’s CIF-SS Division 2 champion.
