LMPD: Man shot and killed inside home in California neighborhood

GOOD EVENING. I’M VICKI DORTCH, AND I’M RICK VAN HOOSE. WE BEGIN TONIGHT WITH THAT BREAKING NEWS, LMPD IS INVESTIGATING A DEADLY SHOOTING IN THE CALIFORNIA NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS HAPPENED JUST BEFORE NINE TONIGHT. OFFICERS WERE CALLED TO THE AREA NEAR 23RD STREET IN GRAND AVENUE. RANDALL CAM JOINS US NOW FROM THE SCENE. RANDALL. AND VICKI, IT IS AN EMOTIONAL SCENE OUT HERE IN THE CALIFORNIA NEIGHBORHOOD TONIGHT. FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF A HOMICIDE VICTIM HAVE GATHERED ON THE SIDEWALK BEHIND ME. AND THEN ACROSS THE STREET FROM THEM IS THE HOUSE WHERE, ACCORDING TO LMPD, A MAN WAS SHOT AND DIED FROM HIS INJURIES. LET ME SHOW YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE OF THE CRIME SCENE OUT HERE. AND THIS IS AGAIN, AS VICKI SAID, AT 23RD AND GRAND POLICE TAPE MARKING OFF THE ENTIRE INTERSECTION, OFFICERS, DETECTIVES AND CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATORS ARE ALL HERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT EXACTLY HOW THIS MURDER HAPPENED. ONE NEIGHBOR I SPOKE WITH SAID SHE HEARD A SERIES OF SHOTS JUST BEFORE 9:00 TONIGHT, BUT DIDN’T ACTUALLY WITNESS THE SHOOTING. AND WHAT WE DON’T KNOW YET IS THE NAME AND AGE OF THE VICTIM, OR WHAT MIGHT HAVE MOTIVATED THE SHOOTER OR SHOOTERS. BUT ONCE AGAIN, ONE PERSON SHOT AND PRONOUNCED DEAD HERE AT 23RD AND GRAND, THE LMPD HOMICIDE UNIT IS INVESTIGATING NO SUSPECTS. Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed in the California neighborhood Wednesday night.Police said calls of a shooting came in around 9 p.m. in the 2300 block of Grand Avenue.LMPD officers arrived at the scene and found a man shot inside a home. He was pronounced dead on the scene.LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
