FLO Enhances EV Travel with New Trip Planning in the FLO App

EV owners can now seamlessly prepare for summer journeys using FLO‘s new trip planning app feature. This innovative tool makes it simpler for drivers to organize their trips by considering factors like vehicle make, range, number of passengers, luggage, and customized stops. It accurately identifies crucial charging points throughout the route. After planning, drivers can connect the itinerary to their favorite navigation app and use features like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for guidance.

“There are more than 1.5 million new EVs on the roads in the U.S. and Canada this year vs. last year,” said Nathan Yang, FLO Chief Product Officer. “As drivers begin to plan summer adventures and where they will charge on the road, FLO is offering personalized trip planning and seamless integration into the FLO app and our extensive charging network.”  

The new trip planner feature is now available on the FLO app for iOS users and will soon launch for Android. FLO’s well-regarded app is free to download from both the Apple and Android stores.

“Once drivers open their FLO app and tap plan, they are able to customize their journey, including selecting their specific EV make and model, setting precise charge levels for departure and arrival, and accounting for occupants, climate control, extra weight, and weather conditions,” said Yang. “EV drivers can then start their journey with a clearer sense of how their range is expected to evolve between departure and arrival points and where they can expect to charge along the way based on their inputs and the feature’s estimates.”

After inputting the required details, the trip planner determines the optimal route using over 100,000 stations across more than 30 charging networks. It recommends necessary charging stops, predicts the cost, and calculates the charging time needed for the journey. EV drivers can then transfer the route to Apple Maps or Google Maps for straightforward navigation.

This update is the latest enhancement from FLO aimed at improving the charging experience for EV drivers. Last summer, FLO introduced an innovative convenience feature that enables users to monitor their charging session directly from their phone’s lock screen, eliminating the need to unlock the device or open an app.
