Don’t just sit at home! There are plenty of great things to do around New York City this weekend.

Here’s a look at some of the best events happening around town between May 31-June 2.

Friday, May 31: Film festival!

Denomin8r’s “I Am Cutting In A Computer”: Chance Studios and Push Collage are excited to present “I Am Cutting In A Computer”, the debut exhibit in New York by Brooklyn visual artist Denomin8r. The artist’s inspiration for this exhibit springs from their interest in human psychology and influence. Chance Studios, 55 Bond St., 2nd Fl., Manhattan. 12 – 8 p.m. Free. 

Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco: Join Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco, a fabulous part of the Lakeside Roller Dance Night Series in Prospect Park! The Dreamland Roller Disco is a themed, dress-up, immersive roller-skating experience that will transport you to a glamorous retro “dreamland.” Each Lola Star event at Lakeside will have its own fantastic theme—see website to check out each night’s themes and to get tickets. Lefrak Center at Lakeside Prospect Park, 171 East Dr., Brooklyn. 7 – 10 p.m. Tickets start at $25. 

27th Brooklyn Film Festival: Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), New York’s longest running international-competitive film festival, is proud to announce its 27th edition, Immersion. BFF, a Canadian Screen Award qualifying festival, received 3,351 films, a festival record, from 103 Countries for its 27th edition, and will program the selected films into 42, two-hour program blocks. The 2024 film lineup will include 150 total film screenings, of which almost all are premieres. Windmill Studios, 300 Kingsland Ave., Brooklyn. May 31 – June 9, multiple times. $15.

Saturday, June 1: Sheeeeeep!

Watson Adventures’ Secrets of Central Park Scavenger Hunt for Families: Join Watson Adventures on a unique family scavenger hunt in Central Park! Kids and adults work together to explore the park below 72nd Street. To score points, you’ll have to find Stuart Little, stick your tongue out at a rude animal, learn the motto of a hidden eagle, decipher a secret code by the pond seen in Home Alone 2, spot Cupid at the Carousel, unscramble a message in the sky, and find a witch turned to stone. Central Park, East Meadow (entrance on 5th Ave. and 97th Street, NW corner), Manhattan. 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. $17.50-$21.50. 

Sheep Shearing Weekend: Visit the Queens Zoo on Sheep Shearing weekend to see the sheep get their annual haircuts! Breeds of sheep at the Queens Zoo include: Jacob’s four-horn and Shetland sheep. Activities planned for this year’s event include shear viewing, fun crafts for kids, and an opportunity to learn all about wool, domestication, and farm animals! Queens Zoo, 53-51 111th St., Queens. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. $6.95-$9.95.

Harrison Greenbaum: What Just Happened? A Comedy+Magic Show: Harrison Greenbaum is either the world’s funniest magician or the world’s most magical comedian: either way, his show is a gut-busting, jaw-dropping theatrical rollercoaster ride you don’t want to miss. Featured on America’s Got Talent and more, catch Harrison Off-Broadway performing his award-winning blend of hilarious stand-up and astonishing magic. Asylum NYC (123 E. 24th St.). Every Saturday at 7 PM, beginning June 1. Tickets $50-65 (Adults 18+)

Sunday, June 2: Shop vintage!

9th Annual New Dorp Car & Jeep Show and Food Truck Festival: All makes and model cars are welcome. Over 100 trophies and awards. Sal Somma Memorial Award for Best in Show, Jerome O’Donovan Memorial Award, and more. Featuring vendors and live music. All proceeds to benefit the New Dorp High School football team. New Dorp High School, 465 New Dorp Ln., Staten Island. 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Admission: $5, Car Entry: $20.

NYC Fashion Bazaar: This is the destination for unique style. Step into the world of fashion at the NYC Fashion Bazaar, where the allure of handmade and vintage fashion converges in a spectacular showcase. This is the event where insiders come to find extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, rare, limited-edition, and bespoke items that stand out in any wardrobe, and where new trends will be created! Grand Bazaar NYC, 100 West 77th St., Manhattan. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free.
