WE’LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE. BUT LET’S RECAP HOW WE GOT HERE. AND OUR SCHEFFLER WAS ARRESTED ON MAY 17TH AS HE ARRIVED FOR THE SECOND ROUND OF THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP AT VALHALLA. OFFICERS HAD BLOCKED SHELBYVILLE ROAD OFF. NOW AFTER A SECURITY GUARD WAS HIT AND KILLED BY A SHUTTLE BUS. NOW, ACCORDING TO LMPD, SCHEFFLER IGNORED TRAFFIC ORDERS AND DRAGGED DETECTIVE BRIAN GILLIS WITH HIS SUV. BUT GILLIS DID NOT ACTIVATE HIS BODY CAMERA AND HE VIOLATED DEPARTMENT POLICY. NOW, VIDEO FROM A NEARBY POLE CAMERA ONLY SHOWS HIM RUNNING UP TO SCHEFFLERS SIDE DOOR. THE GOLFER WAS THEN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT OF A POLICE OFFICER, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF AND SEVERAL OTHER CHARGES. NOW SCHEFFLER’S ATTORNEY HAD THIS TO SAY LAST WEEK. OUR POSITION IS THE SAME AS IT WAS LAST FRIDAY. SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG. WE’RE NOT INTERESTED IN SETTLING THE CASE. The top-ranked golfer in the world is supposed to be arraigned on June 3, but Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell said that he will "address the court" at the Hall of Justice ahead of that about the case.The news release said all parties agreed Scheffler does not need to be there, and he'll be represented by counsel.
