"He's going to hurt her, and I will have to kill him." The realest line in this. Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy called A Family Affair, the latest movie directed by Richard Lagravenese (of P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures, The Last Five Years). This seems like another "we have to do this too" version of the exact same story from Prime Video's The Idea of You. They're almost the same plot, except in this one the guy is a movie star, not a pop star, who falls for the "older woman." A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her movie star boss Chris Cole, as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity. Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron star in this romcom, along with Joey King, Liza Koshy, Sherry Cola, and Kathy Bates. Well this looks pretty awful, not a single funny line in here and everything else is super cringe. Why do they keep making these just for the algorithm? Ugh.

Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Richard Lagravenese's A Family Affair, direct from YouTube:

The only thing worse than being the assistant to a high-maintenance movie star who doesn't take you seriously? Finding out he's smitten with your mom. A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman (Joey King), her mother (Nicole Kidman) and her movie star boss (Zac Efron) as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity. A Family Affair is directed by the American writer / producer / filmmaker Richard Lagravenese, director of the movies Living Out Loud, Freedom Writers, P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures, and The Last Five Years previously. The screenplay is written by Carrie Solomon. Produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum. Netflix will release Lagravenese's romcom A Family Affair streaming on Netflix starting June 28th, 2024 coming up this summer. Any good? Who wants to watch?
