1. Rafah
The UN Security Council is convening an emergency meeting today over an Israeli strike that killed dozens of people in a refugee camp Rafah.
2. Climate crisis
Ireland is likely to fail to comply with its national and EU climate targets, with almost all sectors set to exceed their emissions ceilings for 2025 and 2030.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas emissions projections for 2023-2050 show the country is forecast to achieve a reduction of up to 29% in emissions by 2030 – well short of its target of 51%.
3. Palestine recognition
Ireland to set to formally recognise the state of Palestine this morning.
The move, announced by Taoiseach Simon Harris last week, will see full diplomatic relations established between Ireland and Palestine.
4. Creeslough explosion investigation
A man and woman who were arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal Creeslough explosion in 2022 have been released without charge.
The two individuals, both in their 40s, were arrested yesterday morning.
5. Measles
Seven more measles cases have been confirmed in Ireland, bringing the number of confirmed cases this year to 37.
6. Trump trial
Donald Trump’s lengthy and dramatic hush money trial will have its final hearing today, where lawyers will make their closing arguments.

Taoiseach Simon Harris wants a review carried out into the bulk buying of properties by private investors, with a focus on taxation and planning.
