17-year-old shot at Durham intersection Monday night
A teenager was shot Monday night in Durham.
According to the Durham Police Department, the shooting happened around 10:10 p.m. at the Wabash Street and Moore Place intersection.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 17-year-old who had been shot.
EMS responded and transported the teen to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
This shooting makes at least 16 juveniles shot this year in Durham.
In the first three months of this year, there were 103 juvenile offenses. Throughout 2023, there were about 400, so those numbers are on track right now to be similar.
While we're on trend to match 2023, juvenile crime in 2023 saw a big increase from 2022. Juvenile crime offenses in Durham went up more than 49% from 2022 to 2023, according to the crime report released from the Durham Police Department.
